S-E-S: Sculpture Experiment Silkeborg

KunstCentret Silkeborg Bad, Gjessøvej 40, 1st of Juli – 27th of August 2017
Guided tours every day

Pack your picnic basket and try new things you did not think possible to do in a sculpture park! Meet unexpected art of international class.

See how architecture, nature and art comes together when the internationally acclaimed artist Callum Morton (AUS) takes over the outside area at Art Centre Silkeborg Bad. Trespassing allowed around the clock – Sculpture Experiment Silkeborg invites everyone to explore the park. Here you will find fun and surprising sculptures that spark the imagination for kids and adults alike.
The highlight of the experiment is that it will be guested by the Australian artist Callum Morton, who will create a unique work, especially for this place, this summer. Morton is known for his ability to engage the audience to play and participate with his humorous and thought-provoking works. This time he is making a big scale piece to challenge and play with the surroundings. The park is open 24/7 – hang out here all summer night long!

The rich history of Silkeborg Bad as a health facility, a refugee camp and a bunkered site of Nazi occupation has inspired Morton to do a comprehensive sculptural piece. Using special effects and surprise tactics Morton makes history emerge and come alive in a series of mysterious and unforgettable sights. Morton is known for his sculptural environments that play with architecture, scale and the amusement park aesthetic. He has created major projects at the Biennale in Venice, Sydney and Istanbul. Furthermore, he has been included in numerous international exhibitions in Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA.
S-E-S, Sculpture Experiment Silkeborg, is a unique format that allows chosen artists to experiment. So expect the unexpected and something to play with and explore. S-E-S provides an oasis for artists to explore new techniques and materials – and an oasis for audiences to explore art they can play with themselves!
