Tent sites

If you wish to get really close to nature, and also want to have a cheap holiday, you can spend the night at a primitive campsite.
In the area around Silkeborg, there are several campsites, and some of them are listet here. Maps over the campsites can be found at www.friluftskortet.dk

The campsites on this site are divided into two groups. Those, which can be reached on foot and by canoe.

By foot

Silkeborg Vesterskov, Jenskær
The campsite is situated by Jenskær in the southern part of Vesterskoven. It is a primitive campsite, and you do not have to report anywhere. Only room for a limited number of people at the site. Each group max. ten persons.

Silkeborg Østerskov
The campsite is situated in Silkeborg Østerskov by the walking route Århus-Silkeborg. It is a primitive campsite, and you do not have to report anywhere. Only room for a limited number of people at the site. Each group max. ten persons.

Lovdal Skov
Lovdal Skov is situated by Virklund. The forest is one of the 40 state forests with few limitations for staying the night. This means that you can camp most places (see the rules at www.skovognatur.dk). Max. 2-3 tents in the same place. It is not allowed to light a fire. The site is visable from the road. You do not have to report anywhere.

Along Hærvejen (army road)
There is a campsite south of Funder and a campsite approximately 10 kilometres further south by Christianshede Stationsby. To the north, there is a site south of Kragelund.

By Vrads Station
The campsite can be found by following the path along the old Bryrup railway between Horsens and Silkeborg. The campsite is situated next to Vrads Station. It is a primitive campsite, and you do not have to report anywhere. Only room for a limited number of people at the site. Each group max. ten persons.

By Mossø
The campsite is situated along the walking route between Århus and Silkeborg. You do not have to report anywhere. Only room for a limited number af people on the site. Each group max. ten persons.

De Små Fisk by Sejs. You do not have to report anywhere. Only room for a limited number of people at the site. Each group max. ten persons.

By Sminge, Gjern

This is a campsite for canoers only with access from the water. Max. room for 12 canoes because of rather strict rules of conservation. If there are more when you arrive, you must proceed.

By Alling Vest
This is a primitive campsite. It costs DKK 35 per person, which will be collected in the morning or in the evening. You do not have to report anywhere.
