Shopping The towns in the Silkeborg area are great places to go shopping where you can find many specialist stores.
Towns in the Silkeborg Local Authority
Silkeborg is a unique shopping destination. The area was first designated a “købstad” (an area accorded special trading rights) in 1900, since then the shopping area vastly increased.Silkeborg, today is a great place to go shopping. There are a number of specialist stores as well as atmospheric cafés and restaurants; all in a network of charming pedestrian streets. Also, the Gudenå River, the harbour area and Papirfabrikken (the former paper mill) are all within walking distance. Smaller towns such as Kjellerup also have active town centres with, amongst other things, a number of specialist stores.
