Geocaching
Geocaching combines the thrills of treasure hunting with the joys of the countryside. There are caches throughout the Silkeborg area in all sorts of out of the way places. All you need is a GPS unit and a sense of adventure!
About Geocaching
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is best described as a mixture of treasure hunt and orienteering. Unlike orienteers who use a map and compass, geocachers reach their goal with the help of a GPS device. Read more here about finding your way with a mobile GPS unit.

What is a Cache?
Treasure is to treasure hunters what caches are to geocachers! Read more about what a cache is here.
What Should I Take with Me?
- A mobile GPS unit + extra batteries (you don't want to run out of power in the middle of the forest).
- A description of the cache you are looking for including coordinates and a map.
- A little "treasure" to leave behind.
- Appropriate footwear (walking shoes that can cope with a bit of mud).
- A mobile phone (just in case).
- A pencil or pen.
- Drinks and a lunch box as required.
- Rainwear
