Canoeing Regulations

In the following you'll find tips, advice and regulations relating to your trip down the Gudenå River or on the Silkeborg Lakes.

Don't Disturb the Animals

Where possible, avoid travelling between 6 pm and 8 am.

Keep your Distance

Do not tie your canoes together. Keep a good distance from the canoes around you and avoid paddling up stream.

Noise

Do not create unnecessary noise, by, e.g. playing music from portable music appliances. Shouting and screaming are not compatible with a good day out in the countryside.

Manoeuvring your Canoe

Avoid collisions with banks.

Landing

Only land at transfer points, and camping locations. Landing may only occur with the landowners permission, or where nature protection legislation is valid. Use of woodland paths is normally permitted between 7:00 and sunset, though no more than 50 m from inhabited buildings. Access is also permitted to uncultivated, unfenced areas - though not within 150 m of habitations.

The Stretch Between Tørring and Mossø

All who wish to sail the river between Tørring and Mossø in their own kayak  must have a permit. This permit is only valid for one passage or partial passage of the Tørring-Mossø stretch. Sailing between Tørring and Mossø is only permitted from the 16th of June to the 31st of December between 8 am and 6 pm.

Permits are valid for three days and can be purchased from Tørring Campsite. To contact the campsite throughout the year call +45 7580 2085.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that no access is permitted to the stretch between Tørring and Mosså by order of the Danish Ministry of The Environment between 1 January and 15 June (both days inclusive).

Legislation further dictates that your passage must not result in demonstrable damage to others hunting, fishing, reed beds or similar.
