Visit the small and quaint town of Kjellerup between Silkeborg and Viborg. "Kjel" is the old word for a well and "rup" means hilltop. Kjellerup was founded, in 1859, when a direct road was built between Silkeborg and Viborg, though first started growing in earnest when the railway to Silkeborg was built through the town in the 1900's. Kjellerup is situated about 17 km from Silkeborg and has approx. 14.000 inhabitants. The town is centered on the old market place at the central square and the court house, which dates from 1903. Kjellerup has a few shops and cafés. Tourist Attractions in Kjellerup include Blicheregnens Museum, Søndergaards Garden and Hørup Church, located in the northeastern part of town.
